Jane C. Sweeney, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away on August 17, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her adoring family in her final moments in Quincy, MA. Born on November 14, 1951, in Boston, MA, Jane's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and her ability to touch the hearts of everyone she encountered.

Jane was the cherished daughter of Hugh J. and Marie Gloria (Purtell) Sweeney. She grew up in a household filled with warmth and laughter, which shaped her into the compassionate individual known to all. A proud graduate of Westwood High School in 1969, Jane furthered her education at UMASS Amherst, where she earned a bachelor's degree in medical technology. Her academic achievements laid the foundation for what would become a remarkable career in healthcare.

For nearly five decades, Jane dedicated her life to caring for others as a Lab Technician at Quincy Hospital. After Quincy Hospital closed, she then went to work at Norwood Hospital, Following Norwood, she later concluded her illustrious career at Carney Hospital, where her loving nature and friendly demeanor made her a favorite among patients and colleagues alike. Jane's professional life was marked by the same kindness and care that she bestowed upon her family and friends.

Jane's legacy is carried on by her loving son, Joseph Sweeney, and his wife Jayme of Quincy. She was the loving grandmother to Gunnar Sweeney. She was a beloved sister to Eileen Howell and her husband David of Stoughton. Jane was predeceased by her siblings, the late Hugh A. Sweeney Jr., whose wife Dianne of New Hampshire continues to honor his memory, the late Anne Pinkham of Hull, and the late Michael Sweeney of Norwood. Her departure is deeply felt by her many loving nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends who were like an extended family to her.

Throughout her life, Jane exemplified the virtues of love and friendship. She was a person who always put others before herself, and her presence was a source of comfort and happiness. Her friendly smile and kind words were a balm to those fortunate enough to have known her.

As we bid farewell to Jane, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a journey completed with grace. Her spirit, characterized by boundless love and kindness, will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Jane's memory will be cherished and her influence will remain a guiding light for all who knew her.
