Leona Speers Ruddy of King of Prussia, PA passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Saturday, August 17, 2024.

Leona was born March 19, 1945 in Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital, the 3rd of 6 children of Helen and Bill Speers. Growing up she lived in West Philadelphia, Mount Airy and Havertown. Leona graduated from Archbishop Prendergast High School and had careers at the Philadelphia Evening Bulletin, Campbell Soup, General Electric, and finally retired from AstraZeneca as an Administrative Assistant.


Leona was a fighter, who valiantly battled ovarian cancer for 2 ½ years.


Leona is survived by her devoted husband Jim Ruddy. She was the loving daughter of William T. and Helen R. Speers. Beautiful sister of William J. Speers (the late Maureen Walsh), the late Maureen Speers Shields, the late Brian V. Speers (JoAnn), Loretta D. Speers, and the late Robert M. Speers, Esq. (Elizabeth).


Leona was dearly loved by her nieces and nephews Christine Reese, Allaire Charlesworth and Alex Speers, Daniel and Matthew Speers, Elizabeth and Catherine Speers and her loyal canines Bella and Denny.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Visitation on Friday, morning  August 23, 2024 10:00-10:50am in St. Denis Church 2401 St. Denis Lane Havertown, PA 19083 followed by her Mass of Christian Burial 11:00am. Int. St. Denis Cemetery.
