Angeline “Nellie” Czarkowski, age 99 of Gaylord, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 17, 2024.

She was born on January 3, 1925, to Valentine “Bill” and Rose (Cherwinski) Prusakiewicz, in Gaylord, Michigan.

Angeline was a lifelong resident of Gaylord. She graduated from Gaylord St. Mary High School in 1942. For a couple of years, she worked at Willow Run during WWII as a Rosie the Riveter assembly line worker. In 1946 she married the love of her life, Alex Czarkowski. While raising four children from 1946-1982, she worked for 40 years at Standard Products Co., an automotive supplier.

Nellie had many interests, she could sew, crochet, plant flowers, garden, cook, bake, and dance the polka. She loved her Polish culture and her roots grounding her to the family farm.

She is survived by her children, James, Dennis, Connie, and Marlene Czarkowski.

Angie was preceded in death by her husband Alex in 2013; her parents; and her siblings, Agnes Skowronski in 2014, Anthony Prusakiewicz in 2003, Ben Prusakiewicz in 1989, and Regina Ciszewski in 2023.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at St. Mary Cathedral at 10:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Visitation will be held at Nelsons Funeral Home on Thursday, August 22, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Samalik, Dr. DeKorte, Dr. Fiander, the staff of Otsego County Commission on Aging- Evie, Brittany, and Emily, and Hospice of Michigan and their staff- Holly, Jessika, Lisa, Savannah, and Denise.
