Hazel Ellen Miller, 97 yrs, of Fremont, NE, passed away, August 16, 2024, at Methodist Fremont Health.
Hazel was born August 6, 1927, in Orchard, NE, to Fred and Hilda (Anson) Howard. She graduated from Orchard High School in 1944. She married Darrell M. Miller on October 18, 1946. As a military wife, she traveled to many different locations with Darrell including, Hawaii, Kingsville, TX, Greenwich, Rhode Island, Jacksonville, FL, and Newfoundland, Canada. They ended up residing in Fremont in 1970. She was active member of First Congregational Church UCC in Fremont for many years. Hazel was a girl scout and 4-H leader. Hazel served on the Dodge County ESU board for 12 years. Helping children was a big part of her life and legacy.
Hazel spent time working on a farm, at Northwestern Bell, Bonanza prep person, sold Volkswagen cars, and also worked for Hallmark merchandise for 26 years.
Hazel is survived by her sons, Duane M. Miller and significant other, Kathy; and Craig Miller (Jacque) both of Fremont; daughter, Karen Miller Sullivan (Tim) of Aurora, NE; granddaughters, Alicia, Cassandra,and Britni; and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrell; and siblings.
The funeral will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
Memorials are suggested to the family for funds to be directed to the youth of First Congregational Church UCC in Fremont.
