With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Victoria Sue "Vickie" McCardle Coffield, who left this world peacefully at home on August 9, 2024, at the age of 74 surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 24, 1949, in Wheeling, WV, Vickie’s life was a testament to love, compassion, and the joy of simple pleasures.
Vickie dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Aid. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her career into every facet of her life. She found immense joy in playing Bunko with her friends at Embers, and her love for butterflies and hummingbirds was a reflection of her gentle and vibrant nature. Vickie relished in the small wonders of life, from watching birds at her feeder to cherishing every moment spent with her beloved grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Pat (Gray) McCardle, stepmother Helen McCardle, and siblings Charlene Huff, Gib McCardle, Betty Lohr, Kenny McCardle, Robert McCardle, and Norma Daugherty, Vickie is now reunited with those she dearly missed.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and family, survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Tom Coffield, and their children Tammy (Earl) Hercules, Jeff (Crystal) Coffield, and Chad (Amanda) Coffield. Vickie's heart and home were always full, blessed with 15 grandchildren: Jeremy, Kayla, Breanna, Emma, Robbie, Zachary, Tyler, Austin, Jarrett, Macenzie, Allison, Alexzandria, Bryant, and Arianna, and 25 great-grandchildren. Among her grandchildren, Kayla held a special place as Vickie’s loving caregiver, providing comfort and companionship in her final days.
Vickie's memory will be cherished by all who knew her. Her unwavering kindness, devotion to her family, and passion for life's simple joys have left a mark on the hearts of many.
Family and friends are invited to honor Vickie’s life at a visitation on Sunday, August 11, 2024, from 5:00 PM until the time of the service at 8:30 PM at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood-McMechen Chapel with Pastor Mary Ann Nolte.
