Foster Rogers Obituary

Foster Rogers was born June 8, 1929, in McCormick, South Carolina, the beloved son of the late Coleman and Lillie (Calhoun) Rogers.  He peacefully departed this earthly life to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at his residence in Plum Branch,  surrounded by his loving family.

“Stew,” as he was affectionately called by family and friends was educated in the public schools of McCormick County where he completed the 8th grade.  He then relocated to New Jersey and became employed with Charley Construction Company in New York.  He returned to South Carolina in 1988 and worked for McCormick County Senior Services and  McCormick County Recycling until his health declined.

Mr. Rogers joined Tranquil AME Church at  an early age and remained a dedicated member all his life.  He attended faithfully and regularly as long as he was blessed with good health.

He was a loving and caring father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.  Though he is no longer physically with us, his loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all those who loved and knew him.

He is lovingly survived by his daughter, Diana (Melvin) Morgan of the home; sons, Ralph (Patsy) Rogers of Smyrna, DE, and Rodkee Benjamin of Patterson, NJ; grandson who was reared as his son, DeTravio (Jennifer) Rogers of Augusta, GA; special grandson, DeTravio (Desiree) Rogers a host of other loving grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; god daughters, Bridget (Roger) Jones  and Mary Ann Rogers; brother-in-law, Josh (Georgette) Wiggleton of McCormick, SC; a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss him.
