Cynthia “Cyns” Jo Johnson was born March 1, 1955, in Long Beach, California, and passed away August 8, 2024, in Oakland, Nebraska. Cynthia was born to Paul and Doris Johnson. After Cynthia’s father died in 1964, the family moved to Craig, Nebraska, where her mother, Doris, was remarried to William “Bill” Modlin. Her siblings include Janice 

Magill, Jeffrey “Burt” Johnson, Mark Johnson, Donald “Donnie” Modlin, Kim Ford, and Lorri Steffen.

Cyns graduated from Oakland-Craig High School where she met her true love, Michael “Mike” Johnson. Mike and Cyns were married on April 27, 1974, celebrating 50 years of marriage this year. They moved into their first and forever home in 1976, where they raised their two daughters, Heidi and Amber. Cyns worked at Oakland-Craig Schools for 27 years, where she retired.

Cyns loved to bake and was a wonderful cook. She was also blessed with a green thumb and always knew the tricks for growing a garden and planting flowers. She loved taking photographs, but her favorite was capturing the beauty in the flowers she grew. Cyns also loved antiquing with Mike; it was like a treasure hunt for her. She was passionate about history and her family ancestry.

Most of all, she loved her family and friends. Never forgetting a birthday, anniversary or holiday, her gifts were wrapped with precision and beauty that would give Martha Stewart a run for her money.

To say Cyns will be missed is an understatement; she touched so many lives as a Wife, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Mom and friend to many.

Cyns is survived by her loving husband, Michael Johnson; her daughters: Heidi (Brian) Frick of Sioux Falls, SD, Amber Gerritson of Orange City, IA; grandchildren: Emma (Tanner) Hansen, Christopher (Nicole) Harper, Kaden Frick, Gracie Harper, Brody Frick, Keith Gerritson, Alexa Gerritson, and Ben Frick; great granddaughter, Mallerie Hansen, and many nieces and nephews.
