Ms. Edith Judy Lewis, 79, of Macon, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024.
Edith was born in Tampa, Florida, to the late Henry and Edith McDaniel. At different times in her life, she lived in Jacksonville, Florida, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but she spent most of her life in Lizella and Macon, Georgia where she raised her four children. In 2002, Edith retired from the Girl Scouts of America after more than ten years. She was a long-time and faithful member of Lizella Baptist Church, where she played the piano and served in the Children’s Ministry. Edith loved the music of Aaron Neville. She was an avid reader and enjoyed settling in with a good mystery novel. Edith had a talent for sewing and classic, Southern, home cooking. The holiday season was her favorite time of year, and she always looked forward to holiday parties and decorating for Christmas.
Edith is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Lewis. She is survived by her daughters, Sherrie Treen (Allan) of Macon, Kimberly “Kim” Kay Elder (Pat) of Macon, and Amanda “Mandy” Dolly Ashley of Gray, Georgia; son, Gerald “Scott” Crosby (Nancy) of Bonaire, Georgia; fourteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Alton McDaniel, Leon “Mac” McDaniel, Bobby McDaniel, and Carl McDaniel, and her beloved dog, Sophie.
