Val John Rohleder Obituary

Valerius (Val) J. Rohleder passed away August 8th, 2024. Val was born to Nick and Minnie Rohleder on 12/19/1929 in Emmeram, Kansas.


He graduated from St. Joseph Military academy in Hays in 1948. He joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. Val married Tina Giest in 1956 and she survives the home.

In 1978 Val and Tina moved to Abilene KS where they opened their business Pioneer Farm and Ranch Supply. Val coached baseball, taught religion classes for his church but his greatest passion was running his farm store. Val worked in his store for more than 40 years before retiring at age 90.


Val is survived by his wife Tina and three children, Nick (Teree) Rohleder of Salina, Jody (Dr. Jim) Jenkins of Junction City, Amy (Mark) Dautel of McPherson, Six grandchildren, Samantha, Kristan, Hunter, Hannah, Jordan and Dustin, and 8 great grandchildren.


Visitation will be at Martin-Becker-Carlson funeral home in Abilene KS on Monday August 12th from 5:30-7:30pm (Rosary from 5:30-6pm). Visitation at Kline’s Mortuary in Hays KS on Tuesday August 13th from 6-8pm. Funeral on Wednesday August 14th at 10:30am at Basilica of St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Victoria, KS. Lunch immediately following. Burial to follow at Victoria KS Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church for Masses, or St. Andrew’s School or to Hospice of Dickinson County and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
