Castro -Robert “Bob” Ramon Castro, age 86, of Atlantic Beach, Florida passed away on August 2, 2024, at his residence with his loving family by his side. Bob was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 11, 1938, to the late Ramon Castro and Mary Rauti Castro. As a young child, Bob and his family relocated to New Jersey where they resided until Bob graduated from Lodi High School in 1957. Later that year, they moved to Miami, Florida and it was then that Bob’s commitment to his country was evident when he proudly joined the United States Army. He served with honor for nearly 4 years until his honorable discharge in 1963. Upon his return home, Bob started a successful career in banking and finance. He began his journey at Southeast Bank in Miami and was later transferred to Atlantic Beach in 1972. His extensive experience in the banking sector provided him with valuable skills that would benefit him in his later ventures. He married Jeanne Ring, his best friend on October 22, 1988, and they have enjoyed the past 35 wonderful years together. Their partnership extended into their professional lives when they co-founded Castro Mortgage Associates. Bob served as President and operator of the company for 25 years, retiring when they sold in 2010. Beyond his professional achievements, Bob was a passionate history enthusiast and an avid reader. He took great pride in his extensive collection of leather-bound books, which he collected over the years and kept in his library. Bob was very skilled and incredibly handy. He could build nearly anything with his craftmanship and loved building model sailing ships. Bob was known for his personality and storytelling. His tales and captivating stories were often told to business friends and neighbors and left a lasting impact and impression. Another joy was being outdoors and taking long peaceful walks on the beach. More than anything, Bob loved his family, cherished making precious memories and spending time with them. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Mary Castro.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne Ring Castro of Atlantic Beach, FL; son, Raymoun (Patricia) Castro and Michael (Jeannette) Castro both of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Lena Castro of Jacksonville, FL; granddaughters, Stephanie (Josh Lomobardi) Schroeder and Dominique Castro; great grandson, Jordan Leddy; his dog, Deliliah; along with several extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 11:00 am at Beaches Memorial Park Chapel. Interment will follow at Beaches Memorial Park where military honors will be rendered. The arrangements are under the care and direction of V.
