Diane Lynn Lawson, 73, of Vinton, Virginia passed away peacefully alongside her family on the morning of July 29, 2024 after a courageous battle against cancer. She was born in Franklin, Pennsylvania on November 28, 1950 to late Arthur Gregory and Joan McGuire. She retired from UPMC Northwest and was currently working for Roanoke County Public Schools for the past 5 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James Eugene Lawson. They married on November 12, 1966. She is also preceded in death by her brothers Bobby and Russell.
She is survived by her children Peggy Bauer and husband Robert, Marine Corps Veteran James Eugene “Luke” Lawson Jr and wife Patty, and Lisa “Boo” Toscano. Brothers Mike Gregory and Billy King and sister Deb Alden. She is also survived by lifelong friend Nancy Hines.
Diane had 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren at the time of her passing. David Bauer and wife Brittany; their sons Tate and Brody. Lucas Bauer; his son Brantley and daughter Brielle. Brittany Buckins and husband Nick; their daughters Avery, Alivia, and Ayla. Alyssa Lawson and fiancé Mike Javorski. Katie Caldwell and husband Donald; their daughters Emma and Adelynn. Diane also had several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Good Samaritan Hospice for their care of Diane during the final days of her fight.
A private service will be held by the family at a later date in Pennsylvania. Arrangements made by Oakey’s Vinton Chapel. 540-982-2221.
