Carrie Jane (Hill) Merritt, beloved sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024, at the age of 79. She was born August 30, 1944, in Fair Grove, MO, to her parents Melvin Hill and Anna Lee White Bartlett Hill.
Carrie lived a fulfilling life in Springfield, MO, where she resided in her later years. She was known for her warm and caring nature, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her dedication to her family was evident in her role as a loving mother and grandmother to anyone she met.
At a young age Carrie married Larry Merritt of Nixa and from this marriage came 3 sons.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She was proceeded in death by her parents and brothers Ralph Hill, Carl Hill, Arthur Hill, and John Hill. She is survived by her brother, Daniel (Connie) Hill, who shared a special bond with her throughout their lives. Sons Michael Merritt, Ricky Merritt, and Daren (Diana) Merritt and one daughter in love Kristi S Johnson, she will also be deeply missed by her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose lives were enriched by her love and guidance.
Carrie will be remembered for her selflessness, kindness, and unwavering love for the Lord and her family. Her presence will be greatly missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
A celebration of life will be held Friday August 16th from 5-7 pm at National Ave Christian Church. All are welcome and dinner will be served.
