Ann O’Brien Werner, 70, died peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at home in Houston, Texas. She was born October 31, 1953, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to James Charles and Delores “Dorothy” (Rothwell) O’Brien. The third of six, she graduated from St. Agnes Academy and the University of Texas at Austin. Ann was a nurse who had been employed at Women’s Hospital, including in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She married Louis Werner at All Saints Catholic Church, Houston. She was a member of the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Ann enjoyed football and was a founding ticket-holder of the Houston Texans. She passed her love of sports and card games on to her children and grandchildren. Strong-willed and a devoted care-giver, she always fought tooth and nail for her family.
She is survived by her husband, Louis; children, Andy (Kay Dannenmaier) Werner and Rebecca (Tim) Wechter; and grandchildren Noah and Eliza Wechter, of Houston. She is also survived by her eldest brother, James O’Brien Jr., and younger siblings Kathy (Mike) Wark, Joan (Clarence) Rife, and Tim (Teresa) O’Brien, as well as sister-in-law Brenda Crow and her many nieces and nephews: Alden (Elizabeth) Crow, Erin Crow, and Devin (Julie) Crow, James (Kelsey) O'Brien, William (Mollie) O'Brien, Jonathan O'Brien, Aaron O'Brien, Shelly Wark, Stacey (Justin) Santolli, Steven (Erin) Rife, Julie (Jonathan) Richards, and Timothy O'Brien Jr. She was predeceased by her older brother, Edwin.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm with a rosary at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Miller Funeral Home 7723 Beechnut St, Houston, TX 77074. Ann’s funeral mass will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church 8200 Roos Road Houston, Texas 77036. Following the service, there will be a reception for friends and family. The burial will be at Memorial Oaks Cemetery 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079 at 2:00 pm.
