Ralph Mitchell Hayden, 75, of Richmond, passed away Aug. 4, 2024, at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, KY. Born Feb. 10, 1949, in Bagdad, KY, Mitch was the son of the late Ward Hayden and Dorothy Woods Morris. Mitch was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and a Vietnam War veteran. Mitch worked for Georgia Pacific (Dixie Cup) as a mechanic for over 43 years and was a member of the Teamsters Union 651. He enjoyed playing golf and playing slow pitch softball for the Lexington Wildcats. He and his wife of 57 years, Marcella Barnes Hayden attended Lafayette Church of the Nazarene. Along with his wife Marcella, Mitch is survived by one son, Michael Clay Hayden (Karen) of Richmond, KY; one daughter, Lori Sprague (Rob) of Lexington, KY; five grandchildren, Charlie Hayden, Jessica Schauer, Kyle Sprague, Allison Sprague, Daniel Jackson; two sisters, Linda (Doug) Stockton and April (Tim) Hicks, both of Hemet, CA; and a host of nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his special dog “Buddy”. Along with his parents, Mitch was preceded in death by his brother, Clay Powell. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, August 9, 2024, at Lafayette Church of the Nazarene, 264 Lafayette Pkwy, Lexington, KY 40503. Burial will follow in The Lexington Cemetery, 833 West Main St., Lexington, KY 40508. Visitation will be 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Thurs., Aug. 8, 2024, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3421 Harrodsburg Rd., Lexington, KY 40513.
