Edward E. Willis (Ed), 80 of Sullivan, Indiana, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024, peacefully in his home surrounded by family and friends.
He was born on November 27, 1943, the son of Earline (Nash) Willis and William “Bill” Willis of Carlisle, Indiana.
Survivors include his two children, Michelle Willis (Margie) Beloit, WS and Michael Willis San Francisco, CA; his brother Jack (Nancy) Willis of New Lebanon, IN; and two grandchildren Madison and Ada Willis Lombard, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Don.
Ed was an excellent athlete who started playing basketball at Carlisle, and was called the “Legend”. He then earned a scholarship to play basketball at VU after high school. He later attended ISU and earned a Master’s Degree in Education. He was a member of the Carlisle Masonic Lodge No.3 and the Carlisle Odd Fellows Lodge #50. Ed was a crop specialist who advised farmers for over 30 years. He supported The Native American in Poverty, Humane Society, Wounded Warriors Project, and the Arbor Day Foundation. Ed Loved dogs and enjoyed the outdoors. He spent his time gardening and watching the birds. Ed was very patriotic; he loved his Country and what the American Flag Symbolized, but most of all Ed loved his family.
Visitation will be on Saturday, August 10, 2024, from 9am-11am at Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 with Masonic Rites Services. Burial will immediately follow at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Carlisle, IN. Friends and family will meet afterwards at Cowtown Restaurant in Carlisle to celebrate his life.
