CHURCH POINT ~ Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 at a 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church for Joseph Truman Eaglin, age 72, who passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Acadia St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point.

Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau. The Rev. Mark Kramer, pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Mr. Eaglin was a native of Bellevue and a current resident of Church Point. He was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church.

Mr. Eaglin was a 1972 graduate of St. Peter Claver High School in Grand Coteau. Upon graduation, he started his career in the construction industry having worked for Gulfgate Construction for over thirty years until retirement. From childhood, Mr. Eaglin had a love for basketball and enjoyed following college and professional basketball on tv and shooting pool.

Survivors include one sister, Dianne Eaglin of Church Point; one brother, Martin James Eaglin (Natalie) of Houston, TX; and numerous dear nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ignatius Francis Eaglin and the former Mildred Henry; two brothers, Desmond Eaglin and Charles Eaglin; and six sisters, Catherine Williams, Lucille Smith, Mary Louise Duplechain, Helen DeWalt, Rita Mae Eaglin, and Margie Eaglin.

A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:30 a.m. Saturday until service time on Saturday.

Pallbearers will be David Lewis, Sr., Matthew Eaglin, Isiah Eaglin, David Lewis, Jr., Jerry Rogers, and Martin Eaglin, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Gary, Mr. Albert, Da'Jon Lewis, Mathew Eaglin, and Larry Eaglin.
