Steve West, 81, of Andrews, crossed to his Heavenly home Monday, August 5, 2024. This was the day he prepared for his whole life and he is now in the presence of his Savior, who he sang about for so many years. Throughout life Steve took every opportunity to share the love of Jesus and was a great prayer warrior.

He was a native and lifetime resident of Andrews. Steve was proud and honored to serve his country in the U.S. Army. He was a Vietnam Era veteran stationed in Korea, patrolling the DMZ. He was a lifelong member of Red Marble Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and picked the guitar. Steve enjoyed spending time with his family and playing with his great-grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.

He was the son of the late Frank “Red” and Hazel Conley West.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Steve Bias; three brothers, Willard, Larry and Buddy West; and a sister, Sybil McGinnis.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 56 years, Freda Gregory West; a daughter, Chanda Pace and husband, Tony; two grandchildren, Madison Adamovich and husband, Hansen, and Branson Bias; two great-grandchildren, Stephen and Hazleigh Adamovich; three special “kids” whom he held close in his heart for many years; a sister, Marilyn Raxter and husband, Lane; two brothers, Eddie West and wife, Sherry, Randy West and wife, Kathy, all of Andrews; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 6 pm on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Red Marble Baptist Church with Mickey Stewart, Brad Day, Tony Pace, Hansen Adamovich and Branson Bias officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery with Flag Folding and Presentation by the United States Army. Pallbearers were Branson Bias, Hansen Adamovich, David West, Ronnie Waldroup, Josh Stewart, Jamie Donaldson, and Stephen Adamovich. Honorary pallbearers were Lonnie Postell, Allen Kirby, Frank Wilkie, Lyle Bryson, Verdon Owenby, and Ronnie Bateman.

The family received friends from 4-5:45 pm Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Red Marble Baptist Church prior to the service.
