HENRY STEVAN PATTERSON Obituary

Henry Stevan Patterson made his transition to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

Henry, known to many as Stevan, was born to Henry and Linda Patterson on March 28,1970, in Canton, OH. He was a graduate of Sippo Valley Christian School and studied at the University of Akron and Pensacola Christian College.

Henry was raised in the church and loved the Lord. His faith, ever present until his last breath. He accepted Jesus as his personal Savior as a child at Unity Life Fellowship C.O.G.I.C., under the leadership of Pastor Walter B. and Lena Williams, where he remained a member. Henry participated in many Jesus-centered activities as a young man and made life-long friends as a member of the J-Team, a youth ministry at Unity Life, and a recurring camper and counselor at Camp Wakonda of Christ Presbyterian Church for many years.

Henry was most known for his musicianship, particularly the saxophone and piano. He released two inspirational jazz albums; Music is Life by Henry Stevan Patterson and Highways and Byways to Life by Henry Patterson. He was a natural comedian. His quick wit, jokes, and impersonations were legendary, bringing smiles to any and everyone who met him. He had a real passion for anything technology related, always intrigued with the latest gadgets and was an avid video game enthusiast, a love for which he shared and passed on to his daughter, Cherie. Henry was also a terrific cook! He had a special recipe for everything, and he loved sharing his creations with family and friends.

Henry worked in security and corrections for over 20 years. He was a Supervisor Training Specialist for Stark Regional Community Correctional Center. Having a dorm recently named in his honor, Henry was well respected by all and revered for his knowledge of operations and organizational policies. His co-workers would say there was no question he couldn’t answer.

Henry was united in holy matrimony with the love of his life, Nicole Brown on August 13, 2005. Henry and Nicole enjoyed just being with each other. They had fun doing the simplest things, such as watching TV and walking through model homes. But for Nicole, just being with him made her feel safe and happy. To this union was born one daughter, Cherie Monique Patterson. Cherie was her father’s pride and joy, and Henry boasted of her achievements. They shared a passion for technology and Cherie loved playing video games and laughing with her dad.

He is preceded in death by his father, Henry A. Patterson; sister, Nina (Michael) Davidson, and brothers, Henry “Arnie” (Joyce) and Tyrone Patterson. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Nicole; daughter Cherie; mother, Linda Patterson; brothers, Delbert Hill II, Kenneth (Joyce) Hill, Michael Patterson; sisters Cheryl (Alfred) Rhodes, Lolita (Damon) Bryant, and Lorri Hubbard; Special Cousin, Marvin (Juawona) Reed; Father-in-law, Gary (Crystal) Brown; Mother-in-law, Wanda Crawford; Sister-in-Law, Rachel (LuRoy-deceased) Ferguson; Brothers-in-law, Christopher (Elizabeth) and Timothy (Grace) Brown; along with a host a of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. To Henry, his friends were family. He was dearly loved and will always be remembered for the joy he brought to all.
