David 'Chico' Paul Simons, born November 12, 1973 in Hancock, MI to Gloria Simons (DeForge) Dario and Richard Simons.

He started work after high school helping with custodial work at Calumet High School. Later, David worked at Jim's Pizza, the Mariner North, and the Catalina restaurant in his younger years. He moved on to McGrath Roofing and then Moyle Construction. Since May 1, 1999 he found his home working for the Local Ironworkers Union #8.

David loved his family, especially his grandson Benson. He was a giving person and never thought twice before helping someone. He enjoyed traveling to different parts of the country for work. He loved fishing and being on his boat. He also enjoyed going out at night to look for "yooperlite" rocks.

David is preceded in death by his birth father Richard Simons, father Thomas Dairo, grandmother Helen Simons, grandfather Matt Simons, grandmother Kathryn DeForge, grandfather Joseph DeForge, and numerous aunts and uncles.

David is survived by his son Devin Simons (Melanie Niemi), mother Gloria Dario, siblings Richard Simons (Stacey Scovill), Denise Murphy (Jeff Poston), Tanya Laplander (Isaac), and Duane Simons, grandson Benson, niece & nephews Joshua Murphy (Ashley Utzman), Steven Simons (Kelsey), Clarissa Scanlon (Michael), Justin Murphy (Tara Sullivan) Kimerly Murphy (Patrick Rogan) and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and special work family of Local Ironworkers Union #8.
