Carl Theodore Kyle Obituary

Carl Kyle was born August 10, 1934 in a small east Texas farm town, Tenaha, Texas, population 1,100.


As he grew up on the farm, he learned to drive tractors and trucks from the age of 7 in 1941. He had to look through the steering wheel of the Ford tractor to see where he was going! He continued to drive tractors and trucks working through his high school years.


He loved life on the farm and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his friends on the banks of the Sabine River.


Carl graduated from high school in 1952 and joined the US Army in 1953. During his first assignment in Germany, he served as a truck driver and Mess Hall Cook.


In 1961, he met and married his wife, Emma in Wiesbaden, Germany. Together, they were stationed at four different posts in Germany for 13 years: Wiesbaden, Darmstadt, Landstuhl, and Grafenwoehr.


At Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Sergeant Kyle served as Mess Hall Manager where he earned many awards for his outstanding achievements.


Sergeant Kyle served two tours in Vietnam(1969-1972) as a Mess Hall Manager. His duties included supervising and managing his Mess Hall crews and traveling in trucks, armored vehicles, and Chinook helicopters to deliver fresh food to his combat soldiers in the field.


Later, at Fort Sill, he continued serving as a Mess Hall Manager, winning several additional awards for his outstanding service to soldiers.

Sergeant First Class Carl Kyle had an outstanding career in the US Army. He retired in 1977 and lived in Lawton, OK.


Carl was preceded in death by his parents Holden and Lillie (Nickerson) Kyle, his wife Emma Kyle, daughter Anna Marie Kyle and grandson Brad Howeth.


He is survived by his son Heinz Willi Kyle; grandchildren Robert Carter and wife Lynley, Eric Howeth, Ryan Howeth; numerous great-grandchildren; his friend and care taker Irene Majer; his wonderful neighbors Char and Niel Armstrong, June and Carl William and close friends Curtis and Greg.


Visitation will be Thursday, August 8, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.


Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 9, 2024 in the Stoney Huddleston Memorial Chapel at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service.


Burial with full military honors will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Lawton, Oklahoma.
