Mittie F. Turner, 67, of Keokuk, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa.

Mittie Fernese Turner was born August 12, 1956 in Dayton, Ohio, to Tobias Ward and Pearl (Bryant) Taylor. Mittie was raised by her grandparents, Charlie Frank and Rose Hill in Inkster, Michigan along with her aunt/stepsister Jacqueline Arthur, where she attended Robichaud High School.

In 1989 Mittie and her children moved to Keokuk, Iowa, to be with her sister. She attended Pilgrim Rest MB Church and New Bethel Church where she sang in the choir. She also attended Second Baptist Church in Ft. Madison where she became the choir director. She also sang with her sister on Christ Vision Television Station where she met and fell in love with her soon to be lifelong husband, Willie Sim Turner. She really enjoyed singing.

They started dating in 2004 and later married on May 8, 2011… I owe it all to Jesus. Mittie was employed at the Keokuk Convalescent Home in Dietary. She worked at the Keokuk Hospital also in Dietary. She was employed at Methode and also the Holiday Inn here in Keokuk.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charlie and Rose Hill, and Carrie D. Byrdsong, her Aunt/Stepsister Jacqueline Arthur, Aunt Marilyn Byrdsong and a Brother Anthony (Chubby) Bryant.

Mittie leaves to cherish her memories: Her loving husband Willie Sim Turner, Her Mother Pearl Taylor. A Brother Roger Bryant of Dayton, Ohio and a Sister Sharron (Tyrone) Seay of Keokuk, IA, a Son Kenneth Greenwade Jr. of Keokuk IA. Three Daughters: LaToyia Greenwade, and Gwendolyn Greenwade of Keokuk and Shanice (Bell) Warren of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Stepchildren Rafer Turner, Karen Turner, Deloris (Turner) Mitchell, Sylvia Turner of Buffalo, NY, Joyce (Turner) Wright of Richardson, TX. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. Yea though I walk through the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me Psalm 23:4.

Funeral services will be held at 12 pm (noon) on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Printy Funeral Home, 917 Blondeau Street, Keokuk, Iowa. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, August 10 from 10 am to 12 pm (Noon) directly before the service. The committal service will be held at 10 am on Monday, August 12, 2024, at the Angels Mausoleum at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West in Westland, Michigan.
