Andre Stojanović, age 59, of Ridgewood, NJ passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024. Born in Pancevo, Yugoslavia to Boško and Vera Stojanović. His family relocated to Nice, France when he was two years old, and when Andre was seven, they immigrated to the U.S. and settled in Ridgewood, NY then moving to Ridgewood, NJ. At the age of seven, Andre was fluent in Serbian, Hungarian, French, and quickly learned English.
Andre excelled in soccer and was a fearless goalkeeper for Queens United. He was a mainstay between the post and helped lead the team to the NY State Cup Semifinals. Soccer was always a part of Andre’s life, and he passed along that love to his boys. He was at all their games coaching from the sidelines and looking on with pride. He attended Aviator High School and graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in Queens, NY. Upon graduating from High School, Andre moved to Houston, TX where he lived for five years to be close to his beloved father. In Houston, Andre attended beauty school, which marked the start of his career as a hairstylist. He continued this amazing career of over three decades in NYC at renowned salons as well as owning his own salon for several years.
Andre had a smile that lit up the room and was always ready to share a joke. He was always there to lend a hand to anyone that needed help. He was a loving father and had a deep love for the beach as did his family. Their happiest times were their summers spent together on the beach, swimming and relaxing in the sun. A very proud father to his boys, he spent his life helping them pursue his lifelong wish for them of a good education and giving them a better life. He led by example and later in life Andre attended Queens College and was an A student excelling in every class. His motto was “Shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you'll land amongst the stars”
Beloved husband of Michelle and father of Stefan and Evan. Loving son-in-law of Gordana Kokotovich. Loving brother-in-law of Marian and Michael Kedersha. Cherished uncle of Sofia and John Kedersha. He is predeceased by his father Boško Stojanović, father-in-law Bozidar Kokotovich, Keka and Teca Marian and George Jozika.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Vander Plaat Colonial Home, (vpfairlawn.com), 13-31 Saddle River Rd., Fair Lawn, NJ. Pomen Friday at 7:00 pm. A funeral service is planned for Saturday, August 10, 2024, 11:00 am at St. John the Baptist Serbian Orthodox Church, 119 Carlisle Ave., Paterson, NJ.
