Kennon “Ken” David Keeton passed away Monday July 29, 2024. Ken was born in Cuba, Alabama on July 6, 1970, to Ethel Ree Douglas and Otis Artis.

Ken worked at Otto Baum Construction as a bricklayer before retiring in 2005. After retiring Ken coached his son’s basketball team while doing DIY jobs to his house and “souping” his truck up.

Ken loved to cook and barbeque on the grill no matter what the weather was. Ken was known as real but funny and loved to joke.

Ken leaves to cherish his memories, with his daughter Kendra Nicole Johnson of Tuscaloosa, AL and son Kennon David Keeton Jr. of Peoria, IL, Eight brothers Ernest Keeton Jr. of Peoria, IL, Joe (Carolyn)Keeton of Summerville, SC, Larry (Doris) Keeton of Cuba, AL, Charles (Whitney) Keeton of Virginia Beach, VA, Ricky (Carolyn) Keeton of St. Paul, MN, Robert Earl (Darlene) Keeton of Birmingham, AL, Dennis Artis of York, Al, Otis Aris Jr. of Meridan, MS., five sisters; Maggie (Jessie) Dennis of York, AL, Shawanda Keeton of Peoria, IL, Bessie Ruth Artis, Patricia Artis both of York, AL, Joyce Ann Artis of Meridan, MS, and Sandra of Detroit, MI and Stepdad Melvin Douglas of Peoria, IL. Uncle Johnnie (Jackie) Drummond, Aunts Jessie Mae (Bo) Eades, Geraldine McCoy, Lois Clark, and Annie Lee Drummond all of York, AL. Special Nephews Anthony (Tanajia) Keeton, Jeffery (Brenda) Robinson, and Coron Shields all of Peoria, IL. And a host of other nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends that loved him.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Elizabeth Ann Parker, grandparents Nathaniel “Big Daddy” and Hattie “Big momma” Drummond, and nephew Calvin Dennis.
