Dale Westberry Carter peacefully entered Heaven after an extended illness on August 4th, 2024 in Waycross, Ga. Mrs. Dale, the only child of the late Evelyn Altman Walker and Delmus Westberry, was a kind and generous lady who loved her family, friends, and fur babies fiercely.
As a little girl living on Eads Street in Waycross, GA, Dale first met her future husband when he was a little boy living two houses down the road. The two married as young adults and lived a life that truly reflected a devoted couple who loved, honored, and cherished one another all their days. The love and joy they experienced as a married couple are evident to all who know them and serve as an example of commitment and love for future generations.
After raising her children in a home full of love and encouragement, Mrs. Dale graduated from Armstrong State College with a degree in early childhood education. Mrs. Dale loved all children and her calling as an educator was evident in her work as a paraprofessional at Hoboken Elementary School and a 3rd grade teacher at Nahunta Elementary School.
Some of the simple pleasures that Dale enjoyed throughout her life included tending to her flowers, hunting sharks teeth on the beach, painting ceramics, taking her children and grands to Disney World, cooking for her family, and playing with her grandchildren.
Predeceased by her parents and a grandson named Cody Blair, Dale’s precious memory is honored by her devoted husband, Donald Carter. Dale’s three children include Kim Carter Morgan (Craig), April Carter Blair, and Brandon Carter (Karla). Mrs. Dale was the absolute best “Nanny” to grandchildren Kiersten Morgan, Caitlyn Morgan Giddens (Cole), Ally Blair, Aaron Blair, Jackson Carter (Morgan Lee), Julie Carter, and great grandsons - Hayden Thigpen and Cohen Giddens. She will also be missed by nephew Michael Carter (Jamie), and other family members and special friends whose life was impacted by her love, compassion and generosity.
The service to honor and celebrate Dale’s life will be held on August 8, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Music Funeral Home in Waycross, GA. The family will begin receiving friends at the funeral home on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Following the service, a private graveside for the immediate family will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery
Pallbearers will include Michael Carter, Noahie Altman, Aaron Blair, Jackson Carter, Cole Giddens, Kolby Herrin, Clay Lee, and Tripp Herrin. Pastor Philip Cochran will preside over the service.
Dale will be deeply missed, but the beauty of her legacy and the love she shared will live on in the hearts of the lives she touched.
