Mrs. Geraldine Mary Quebedeaux Wilkins was born on May 30, 1941 in Church Point. She was a native of Lafayette and also resided in Carencro. Ms. Wilkins was a parishioner of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette and enjoyed attending mass. She graduated from Carencro High School, class of 1960. Ms. Wilkins’ early career included department manager at LA Frey Federal Credit Union and other financial administration endeavors. Her later ambitions and love for children and knowledge drew her to her true calling with the Lafayette Parish School Board, where she found great pleasure in teaching little children, guiding them into a brighter future; she made a difference in lives, and retired doing what she loved.
Ms. Gerry will be remembered for her kind-heartedness; she greeted everyone with warmth and a smile. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and had a strong work ethic; she enjoyed listening to music and reading the Bible; Ms. Gerry loved the holidays and the spirit of Christmas, and was an avid Elvis fan. She enjoyed vacationing and was especially fond of the mountains and Graceland in Tennessee. In her spare time she showed her creativity through crocheting. Ms. Wilkins was a devoted Catholic who loved the Lord, as well as a feisty fighter and cancer survivor. She was known to be a trustworthy friend, had an unbreakable bond with her brother, cherished her sister-in-law like a sibling, unconditionally loved and supported her children no matter what, and was a loyal wife. As ‘Nanny’, she was kind, caring and treasured her nieces and nephews. She was a doting ‘Grammie’ to her four grandchildren who meant the world to her; she adored them and enjoyed nurturing them and watching them grow. Ms. Wilkins lived a blessed life and touched many hearts with her thoughtfulness, sincerity, love and generosity; our angel will be missed tremendously and will forever be remembered and live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Jaime Lynn Wilkins of Carencro; her son, Scott Lee Wilkins and his wife, Mattie, of New Iberia; four grandchildren: Keegan Nash Wilkins-Anderson, Kadaj Wilkins, Link Wilkins, and Vincent Wilkins; her brother, Donald Quebedeaux and wife Debby of Arnaudville; her nephew and Godchild Wesley Quebedeaux; her niece and Godchild, Brandy Haynes and husband Elisha Haynes IV; her great-niece, Victoria Haynes; and her great-nephew, Elisha Haynes V.
