Lily Y. (Matsumoto) Mito, 95 years of age, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of Monday, July 22, 2024. With her granddaughter by her side.
Lily was born on April 30, 1929, in Honolulu, Hawaii, the daughter of Masao and Asano (Sasaki) Matsumoto. She was the middle child of 5 siblings, 3 whom preceded her in death. Lily grew up on Aupuni Street in Honolulu and attended Lanakila Elementary, Kalakaua Intermediate and graduated from Farrington High School, Class of 1947.
Lily married the late Kazumasa Mito on April 5, 1952, and together they had 2 children. She worked as an accountant at Fujioka’s store in Waialua. After retired, she devoted herself to her 5 grandchildren, becoming a loving and caring grandmother. Lily was known for her hard work and talent as a seamstress for family and friends. She was a member of the Haleiwa Kajukenbo family and was known for her big heart and generous spirit. Lily always put others first and never asked for anything in return. She faced challenges with strength and a smile, making life seem beautiful through her eyes.
Known affectionately as Grandma, Lily was a devoted wife, aunty, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her kindness and love touch many hearts, and she will be always remembered forever.
Lily leaves behind her loving memory to her 2 children: Clyde Mito (Luz Mito) and Sandra Aplaca (Timothy Aplaca); 5 Grandchildren: Chole McGuire (Warren McGuire), Mary Mito (Brandon Wabinga), Wendy Ritte (Ekahi Ritte), Garbielle Aplaca and Clyde Mito Jr.; and 12 Great-grandchildren: Kaizen Ritte, Xander Mito, Elleora Ritte, Troy Ritte, Anaiyah Ritte, Tryton Ritte, Arianna McGuire, Xylie Wabinga, Sonya Ritte, Xoe Wabinga, Easten Ritte, Luke McGuire.
Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 23, 2024 at Mililani Mortuary Makai Chapel.
Visitation begins at 9:00 am and service 10:00 am.
Inurnment at Mililani Memorial Park Cemetery, 11:30 am.
