Ellen Clarinda(Marquis)Fay passed away peacefully at her home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 29, 2024.

Ellen was born May 9, 1937, to the late George and Catherine (McGrath) Marquis in Burlington, VT.

She grew up in Burlington, attending St. Joseph Elementary School and graduating Cathedral High School, where she developed a deep commitment to her faith that would follow her throughout her entire life.

After high school Ellen attended Burlington Business College and went on to marry the love of her life, Roger Fay on October 5, 1957.

Together, Roger and Ellen raised four children, Roger Jr, Michele, Matthew and Kristin. While Ellen took pride in raising her family, she also volunteered in community affairs, including Meals on Wheels and Inspector of elections. Ellen also participated as a Sacristan at Cathedral of Immaculate Conception and sang in the church choir.

As the family grew and expanded, her summers were spent at “camp” on the Sandbar in South Hero, where countless barbeques and bonfires were enjoyed by many families and friends.

Ellen enjoyed many pastimes including baking, shopping, trips to the casinos, cruise trips and winters in Florida.

Ellen is survived by her husband of 66 years, Roger Fay Sr., their children Roger (Cindy) Fay Jr., Michele Fay and her partner William Riley, Matthew (Christina) Fay and Kristin (Kevin) Lahue. Grandchildren, Roger Fay III, Chad Fay, Lauren (Ryan) Fay-Kristoff, Melissa (Dave) Pecor, Michael (Bobbi) Riley, Zachariah Kay, Mason Fay, Hunter Fay, Aubrie Fay, Gracie Fay, Blake (Ashley) Lahue, Tylor (Katy) Lahue, Alex (Liz) Lahue, Brendan Lahue and his partner Keely Reed and eleven great-grandchildren whom she adored.

She is also survived by her sister Clarinda (and the late David) Lavallee, Raymond (Corrine) Fay, Claire (Eric) Silman, Jared (and the late Yvette) Larrow.

A Catholic mass will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024, at Saint Anthony Parish, 305 Flynn Ave in Burlington, VT followed by an interment at Resurrection Park at 200 Hinesburg Road, South Burlington, VT.
