Laurie Crowley Leone, 66, of Schenectady passed peacefully on July 28th, 2024 at home, surrounded by her family. Her life story is one of love, empathy, unwavering commitment to family and friends and being of service to anyone in need.

Born in Schenectady to John and Elizabeth (Connelly) Crowley, Laurie was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and went on to become a Registered Nurse after graduating from the Ellis Hospital School of Nursing.

Laurie’s greatest passion was caring for others, especially babies and young children. She spent many years as a pediatric nurse, and was a long-time school nurse for the Schenectady City School District. She was always willing to lend a hand to friends and family. Laurie was a talented artist, lover of family games, puzzles and crosswords. She was an avid reader and was enamored by her grandchildren. Her sense of humor, warm embrace and bright blue eyes will be missed every single day.

Laurie leaves behind her loving husband, Rick; her three children, Lyndsay (Daniel) Powhida, Eric Leone, and Britton (Alyssa) Leone; her four grandchildren: Parker, Sydney, Brooks and Audrey, whom she loved beyond measure. She is also survived by her sister, Ann (Brian) Daley, brothers Daniel (Angela) Crowley and John (Trish) Crowley and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Laurie was predeceased by her brother, Michael Crowley; father, John; mother, Elizabeth; and mother-in-law, Mary Leone.

We thank her for teaching us what true kindness is and hope you’ll all go on to do “the next right thing” in her memory.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 5pm-8pm at the DeLegge Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church, 1241 State St, Schenectady, NY 12304. Interment will follow in Sts. Cyril and Method Cemetery in Rotterdam.
