Richard “Rick” Lee Riggs, known for his handy and creative work, passed away peacefully in Lafayette, LA on July 29, 2024. Born on May 27, 1953, in East St. Louis, IL.
A Memorial service will be held to honor and remember Rick on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 9:00 AM, Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Jennings, LA.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Rick dedicated himself to service both in uniform and those close to him. He went on to serve as a police officer, paramedic and retired as a security officer. Rick’s love for music, fishing, and the great outdoors reflected his deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
He is survived by his loving family: his son Derrick Richard Esta and wife Julie; his adored grandchildren, Londyn and Amelia; his sisters, Sandra (Riggs) Hudzik and spouse Wendell, Michelle (Riggs) Gariepy and spouse Marc, and Cherie (Riggs) Lastra; along with several nieces and nephews. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Joyce (Crawford) Riggs and George Richard Riggs.
