Marilyn J. Shepard, 90, of Rouseville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Oakwood Heights Village in Oil City.


Born July 11, 1934 in Brookville, she was a daughter of the late William and Julia Haugh Cochran.


A 1952 graduate of Oil City High School, she began nursing school when her youngest began kindergarten and graduated as an LPN in 1967.


She worked for many years at the Franklin Hospital in the ICU, surgical, recovery room, and short stay.


Marilyn was an amazing and loving mother and grandmother known for her apple pies and ability as a seamstress who sewed prom and bridesmaid dresses for family. She was a shining example of strength, wisdom, and grace. Her love and unwavering support has been a constant through life’s ups and downs.


Mrs. Shepard was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Franklin helping in many ways over her lifetime. She was a member of the Belles-Lettres Club in Oil City.


On August 2, 1952, she was married to Carl F. Shepard, Sr., and he preceded her in death on February 11, 1994.


Surviving are four children, Carl Frank Shepard, Jr. of Seneca, Jullie Anna and her husband Kirk of Reno, Christine Ehrhart and her husband Richard of South Carolina, and Renee Shilling and her husband David of Akron, OH; 10 grandchildren, Emily Shepard, Carl F. Shepard, III, Ali Shepard, Jessica Struthers and her husband Andy, Laura Anna, Renee Christine Anna, Brittany Miller, Evan Ehrhart and his significant other, Elizabeth Huber, Michaela Mihalko and her husband Shawn, and Mallory Palmer and her husband KC; and 10 great grandchildren, Warren, Shay, and Marilyn Struthers, Leia Mihalko, Owen and Maci Ehrhart, Kaiden White, and Blake, Henry, and Declan Miller.


Also surviving are a brother, Gary Cochran and his wife Carla of Oil City; a sister-in-law, Judy Cochran of Oil City; a brother-in-law, Callen Hull of Oil City; and many loved nieces and nephews that are held close to her heart.


In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law that she considered a daughter, Karen Shepard; two brothers, William and James Cochran; and two sisters, Carolyn O’Brien and Donna Hart.


Visitation will be held at Morrison Funeral Home on Sunday from 3 to 6 pm and again on Monday from 11 am to noon at the First Baptist Church in Franklin where a funeral service will follow at noon with the Rev. Randy Powell officiating.


Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Garden Cemetery.
