Randy Soren Nelson Obituary

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Randy S. Nelson. On Thursday, July 25, 2024, Randy returned home to his Heavenly Father. He passed away at his home in Brigham City, Utah. After years of battling COPD and heart issues. He was 75 years old at the time of his passing. He will be greeted in Heaven by his mother, Belva B. Nelson and father, Ray H. Nelson and siblings, Garth Nelson, Kay Jean Tanner, Larry Nelson, Lorna Nelson, and Carol Stott. Who will now welcome him home with loving arms.

Randy is survived by his son Shaun L. Nelson, daughter, Misty R. Wells, and sister, Adalynne Scothern; 8 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was born on May 28, 1949, in Brigham City, Utah, where he resided his entire life.

Randy graduated from Box Elder High School in1967 where he played football for the Box Elder Bees and lead his team to many victories. He was a BEAST on the field! #46!! He received many awards and acknowledgments for his natural ability.

He married Judy Holley in 1968, and they later divorced. He never remarried.

Randy enlisted in the US Army to serve his country in the Vietman War. He served 2 years and was a very proud Veteran. He was Honorably Discharged on the 1st day of October in 1974.

After the war, he returned home and found employment with Thiokol where he worked for 30 years. He was very proud of the work he did for the US Space Program.

He attended Weber State University where he received an associate’s degree in business.

Randy was a hard worker and continued a career at Autoliv where he later retired.

He loved The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and worked very hard to be a faithful member.

Randy stood for three things: God, Country, and Family and never wavered from them.

He loved with his whole heart and if you were lucky enough to be loved by him, you knew this. His laugh was contagious, and you just had to smile when you heard it.

He will be missed deeply. There is a huge hole in our family now that will never be filled. Rest in Peace, my sweet Dad.
