Pastor Winston King Obituary

Pastor Walter (Winston) King

May 9, 1937 – July 28, 2024

Walter (Winston) King was born to Alfred and Gladys King on May 9, 1937. Winston gave his life to Christ at the age of 19, largely as a result of the love and influence of his praying mother. After meeting and marrying the love of his life, Marilyn Keefe, they answered what he referred to as a “clear and distinct” Calling to fulltime ministry at age 22.

Winston was Credentialed with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Newfoundland and Labrador for 65 years where he served in active ministry for 34 of those years pastoring 13 assemblies before stepping aside due to an illness. Although he no longer served in fulltime pulpit ministry his call and passion kept him accepting invitations to speak occasionally and all who knew him knew how he was an encourager to many and rarely lost an opportunity to pray with or witness to those he came in contact with.

Winston was a devoted husband, loving father, a cherished grandfather and great grandfather, a loved and respected brother and a friend to all who truly knew him. His love and concern for people was genuine and exemplary and aside from ministry he thoroughly enjoyed the great outdoors. He will be dearly missed.

Left to mourn are his seven Children: Randy (Donna) King, Arlene Norris, Blair (Barbi) King, Barbara (Craig) Andrews, Fraser (Timmia) King, Daren (Sharon) King & Jeffrey (Jessica) King, grandchildren; Corey (Janice) King, Chris (Amanda) King, Jamie (Molly) Andrews, Brad King, Jonathan (Debra) Andrews, Amanda (Martin) King, Jenna (Jeremie) Poirier, Matt King (Jeff), Fayth Andrews, Brandon King, Brittany (Jerrett) Dawson, Nicolas King, Jayda King, Cameron King, Skye Grant and Laken King.

Great Grandchildren; Alaina King, Spencer King, Ashton King, Maddox King, Jaxx King, Zackary Andrews, Tyler Andrews, Kaylie Andrews, Jacob Andrews, Gabriella Andrews, Mia King & Isla King, brothers and Sisters; Blanche (Lawrence) Freake, Wanda (Wayne) Keller, Wallace (Patsy) King, Roland, Linda, Gloria (Rick) Goings brothers and sisters-in-law: Betty King, Jim Bennett, Verna King, Raymond (Marjorie) Keefe, Melvin Keefe, Daphne (Raymond) Twyne, Marie Keefe, Margaret (Allan) Hamlyn, Allan Keefe & Dennis Keefe.

He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn, his parents, Alfred & Gladys King, Parents in-law Douglas & Amelia Keefe, Brothers Edwin King, Claude King, Reginald King, Sister Rowena Bennett, Sister-in-law Brenda King, Brother in-law Albert Power.

Special mention to Florrie Norman-Friend, Management & Staff of Hollett’s Retirement Living, Staff of 3B Central NL Regional Hospital, Dr John Campbell & Staff at Lionel Kelland Hospice and Hoskins Funeral Home.
