Clinton Gehrke Obituary

Clinton "Clint" Erwin Gehrke of Liberty Hill, TX passed away on July 28, 2024 at the age of 86. He was born in Big Springs, NE on March 8, 1938 to parents Erwin and Nelda (Berry) Gehrke.

Clint grew up in Nebraska and often told stories of working on the farm and hunting and fishing in western Nebraska. He grew up with his twin brothers Carrol and Darrel (Darrel died in the Vietnam war) and surrounded by aunts, uncles, cousins and many other friends and relatives. Clint's children often heard these stories over and over, especially at family gatherings and the famous Berry family reunions which was Clint's mother's side of the family, Nelda (Berry) Gehrke.

Clint worked in construction his entire life, starting out as a carpenter early on. He worked his way up to Foreman and Superintendent on many high-profile projects during his career including the missile launch site at Cape Canaveral, grain elevators in Hutchinson, KS, the Indian Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ and the Motorola Plant in Austin, TX. After the project in Austin, Clint stayed in the Central Texas area and worked as a general contractor for 25 years before retiring.

He married his wife of 43 years, Sharon, in 1981 and they lived in the Central Texas area for their remaining time together. They spent many years with their grandchildren living with them and always opened their home to family and friends. Holidays were always a special time at their home either in Dale, TX where the grand kids loved to play with the goats and donkeys, or in Liberty Hill. Clint and Sharon were active in church and were members of Our Lady Maronite Catholic Church in Austin, TX for many years.

For fun and hobbies, Clint spent time putting skills learned in the Air Force to use as a pilot for a private plane he had ownership in. He was also an avid motorcyclist, racing for most of his life in motocross and enduro racing events. He was even part owner in a motorcycle shop for a period of the 80’s and 90’s.

Clint passed away on July 28, 2024 while in the hospital in Cedar Park. He passed due to complications from pneumonia, an infection he had battled with several times before.

He leaves behind his brother Carrol, his children Steven (Brenda) Gehrke, Stuart (Rhonda) Gehrke, Rose’lani Kane, William Gehrke, James (Denise) Gehrke, Dawn Russell, Bubba (Shawn) Williams, Grandkids: Kelly Bushnell, Clint Gehrke, Ethan Gehrke, Dylan Gehrke, Kaleena Kane-Barrios, Kiley Kane, Kolton Kane, Valerie Porter, Ashley Gehrke, Austin Gehrke, Brooke Gehrke, Caitlyn Gehrke, Makaio Gehrke, Rhiannon Gehrke, Brittany Harrison, Megan Russell, Candice Russell and 21 great grandkids.

Clint was preceded in death (by three months) by his wife Sharon, father Erwin Gehrke, mother Nelda (Berry) Gehrke and brother Darrell Gehrke.

A Memorial Service will be held for Clint on Friday, August 23rd at 10:00 a.m., at the Beck Funeral Home Chapel at 1700 E. Whitestone Blvd., Cedar Park, TX and will be officiated by Father Don from Our Lady Maronite Catholic Church.
