Sr. Cpl. Segus Jolivette, born June 3, 1989, was a native of Opelousas, Louisiana. He graduated from Beau Chene High in Opelousas, LA. His formal career began with the Opelousas Police Department in 2010, where he served for approximately four years as a patrol officer. He then moved to the Lafayette Police Department (LPD), where he served as a patrol officer for 11 years. In addition to his service as a patrol officer at the LPD, his other contributions included serving as a detective, participating in the SWAT Negotiator Team and the Explorer Program, working as a School Resource Officer, and being a proud member of the Honor Guard. Throughout his career, Senior Corporal Jolivette received multiple commendation letters among many other forms of recognition.

Senior Corporal Segus Jolivette's sacrifice, and service are deeply impactful. His bravery in the face of danger while responding to a volatile situation exemplifies the courage and dedication of law enforcement officers. The loss of Corporal Jolivette is a significant tragedy for his family, colleagues, and community. He lived an honorable life that reflected passion, purpose, commitment, and duty to protecting and serving his family as well as his community.

From a young age, Senior Corporal Segus Jolivette dreamed of becoming a police officer, and he pursued that dream with unwavering determination. His love for his career was palpable, and his dedication to his fellow officers was unmatched. He was a protector of the public and a steadfast guardian of his colleagues, ever ready to stand by their side in the of face danger. But his most honorable role was as a family man. Senior Corporal Jolivette cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and the rock upon which his family leaned. His wife and children were his world, and he took immense pride in being their protector and their foundation. His passion for his work was perhaps the only thing that came close to rivalling his profound love for his family. The ultimate balance of heart and duty.

As we mourn the loss of this exceptional man, we also celebrate the profound impact he had on our lives and our community. His legacy will forever be remembered and honored through the lives he touched and the example he set for all who had the privilege of knowing him. Senior Corporal Jolivette's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who currently serve and those he served and protected, inspiring future generations of law enforcement officers to embody the same values of courage, dedication, and love for their community.

Together, united in our respect and admiration for a true hero, we honor a man whose life was a testament to selfless service and unwavering devotion. May his legacy continue to inspire and guide us all to embody his values of courage, commitment, persistence, and, greatest of all, love.
