Of Churchill, age 73, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024, following a courageous battle with Cancer.
Kathy was born on February 14, 1951, to the late Frederic McGinnis and the late Rita (Thomas) McGinnis.
Beloved wife of Regis “Barry” Driscoll for 34 years.
Loving sister of Joan (Hank) Moeser, Thomas (Janice) McGinnis, and Robert (Mickie) McGinnis. Sister-in-law of Robert (Jerilyn) Driscoll and the late Richard (surviving spouse, Cynthia) Driscoll.
Adored aunt of Chris (Kim) Moeser, Tammi (Vince) McGlynn, Jodi (Jeff) Schander, Eric (Erica) McGinnis, Todd (Nikki) McGinnis, Ashleigh Rutherford, Rachel (Daniel) Sherman, Erin (Matt) Malagise, Jessica (Derek) Fox, and Paula (Caton) Marlowe.
Cherished great aunt of Kayli, Dani, Vincent, Julia, Jenna, Aiden, Austin, Anna, Olivia, Driscoll, Max, Cade, Myles, Beckham, and Damon.
Also survived by countless friends and acquaintances from WTAE.
Kathy was born in South Charleston, WV, and was a 1969 graduate of South Charleston High School. She then went on to Marshall University where she was a proud member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Kathy graduated from Marshall in 1973 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Kathy worked as an on-air television anchor in Ohio and in 1981, she relocated to Pittsburgh where she was hired for WTAE as a news photographer. Kathy was enthusiastic and passionate about her profession. She retired in 2013 with 32 years of service at WTAE. Kathy was a member of the Wilkins Twp. Century Club, and was a social member of the Irish Club of Monroeville and the Elks Lodge in Wilkins Twp. She enjoyed traveling domestically and internationally with Barry, with Alaska being her most memorable destination. Kathy was a selfless soul who always placed the needs of others before her own. For years she volunteered with Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Eastmont delivering meals to those in need. Most of all, she treasured the memories made spending time with her family and friends.
Friends are welcome Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. – 12 noon at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350, where a Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 12 noon.
The Wilkins Elks will conduct their Remembrance Service on Friday evening at 7pm.
Kathy will be laid to rest in Good Shepherd Cemetery.
