Richard "Rich" Ray Marino of Navarre, age 82, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024. He was born in Canton, Ohio on April 4, 1942, the son of the late Richard J. Marino and Helen (Dogoli) Marino-Ondo. Rich was a 1960 graduate of Central Catholic High School and had attended Walsh University. Rich resided in Magnolia, Ohio for most of his life and had been employed with the Timken Roller Bearing Company as a union electrician for 33 years before retiring. He also held an Ohio Electrical Contractors License and worked with his son, Rick, at the Marino Maintenance Company. He had previously been employed as a Sergeant with the Magnolia Police Department and as a Deputy with the Carroll County Sheriff's Department. Not being someone to shy away from long hours and hard work, his last 21 years have been spent on the Navarre, Ohio ranch Acorn Acres where he currently resided. Rich was an active 21-year member of the Fellowship Baptist Church where he was a very talented singer in the choir. Prior to this, he sang with the Community Christian Choir. He was a firearms enthusiast, holding a Federal Firearms License for 30+ years, and was an avid shooter obtaining numerous awards for his excellent marksmanship. He was a life member of both the Tusco Rifle Club and the NRA. He was very patriotic. Rich was a very kind man who had the patience of Job. To his friends and family, he was the "go-to" guy for knowledge and wisdom, as he was well-versed in many areas.
Rich is survived by Nerissa (Plott) Marino, his wife of 21 years. Also surviving are his son, Richard L. (Kimberly) Marino; his grandchildren, Mackenzie and Taylor Marino; along with two nieces, Susan (Richard) Totedo and Cheryl Stine. In addition to his parents, Rich was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald J. Marino.
Funeral services will be held at the Fellowship Baptist Church at 3741 Fohl St SW, Canton, Ohio 44706 on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Tim Brown officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the church.
