Trudy Kay Rutherford, a beacon of selfless love and unwavering dedication, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2024, in Roseville, at the age of 63. Born on February 7, 1961, in Grosse Pointe Farms, Trudy's life was a testament to the strength and compassion that she carried in her heart through every chapter of her story.
Trudy's early years in St. Clair Shores laid the foundation for a life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of family. She was a cherished daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. Her family was her world, and she poured her whole self into nurturing and supporting them. Trudy is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Danielle and James Boettcher of St. Clair Shores; her son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Christine Peabody of Roseville; her adored grandson, Ryan Boettcher; her caring brothers and sisters-in-law, Randy and Karen Rutherford of Macomb Twp., Jerry Rutherford of Mt. Clemens, and James and Linda Rutherford of TX and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Barbara (Ralph) Jones of Macomb Twp. and Kristen Grandon of Sterling Heights. She will also be fondly remembered by her several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and a host of friends who were touched by her generous spirit.
Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, Carol (Masse) and Don Moore and Billie Rutherford, and her sister, Sherri Harrison. The absence of her parents and sister was deeply felt, but Trudy's resilience and the love she found in her immediate family gave her strength.
For many years, Trudy worked as an auto parts deliverer, a role that allowed her to form countless friendships and connections within the community. Her colleagues knew her as a reliable and hardworking individual who always went above and beyond to ensure that every delivery was made with care and punctuality.
Trudy's love for her children was unparalleled, and she found her greatest joy in the moments she spent with them. The birth of her grandson, Ryan, brought a new level of happiness to her life. She adored him beyond measure and cherished every opportunity to create lasting memories with him.
Trudy found peace and solace in the great outdoors. She enjoyed family vacations, gatherings and concerts. The tranquility of nature was a backdrop to many of the cherished moments she shared with family and friends. Camping trips became a tradition and a source of countless stories that will continue to be told and retold, keeping Trudy's adventurous spirit alive.
Those who knew Trudy will remember her for her selflessness. She possessed a boundless capacity to give, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her actions were a living embodiment of the words of Mahatma Gandhi: "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." Trudy's life was a reflection of this profound sentiment, as she found her greatest fulfillment in the happiness and well-being of the people she loved.
As we say goodbye to Trudy Kay Rutherford, we celebrate the legacy of love she leaves behind. Her memory will continue to inspire us to live with kindness, to cherish our loved ones, and to give selflessly to those around us. Her story does not end with her passing but lives on in the hearts and lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, forever remembered and forever missed.
