Raymonde P. D'Arienzo Obituary



MASSENA – Raymonde P. “Scotty” D’Arienzo, 99, a longtime resident of Orchard Road, passed away late Sunday evening, July29, 2024 at Massena Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.


Scotty was born March 7, 1925 in Glen Navis, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Napoleon and Roseanna (Desrochers) Denis. She attended schools in Cornwall and proudly received her high school diploma from Massena Central Schools in her 60’s. On July 1, 1943, she married James M. D’Arienzo at Nativity Church in Cornwall with Rev. H. Poirier, officiating. Jim predeceased her on January 26, 2007.


Scotty was a waitress for many years, working at the Village Inn and Violi’s and was also a cocktail waitress at Schine’s Inn. Additionally, she was an Avon Representative for many years. She was a communicant of the Church of the Sacred Heart, member of the Ladies of the Elks Lodge, and as an active golfer she was a member of the Massena Country Club, Twin Brooks Ladies Golf League in Waddington, Heather Hills Ladies Golf League and Fun Mixed League both in Bradenton, Florida where she and her late husband enjoyed many winters. Scotty volunteered for Massena Meals on Wheels, enjoyed cross-country skiing, bowling, line dancing, and was trained to be a literacy volunteer.


Scotty is survived by her children and their spouses, Tony James and Marrell D’Arienzo of Massena, Dennis and Jennifer D’Arienzo of Ponte Verda Beach, Florida; and Karen and Craig See of Avon, New York; her daughter-in-law, Mary D’Arienzo of Huntsville. Alabama; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, her brother, Bruno Denis of Kingston, Ontario; and many nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a son, James K. D’Arienzo; her sisters, Therese Piche, Gertrude Laurin, and Cecile Denis in infancy; her brothers, George, Lionel, Wilfred, Robert and Raymond Denis.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated August 14th at 12:00 PM at the Church of the Sacred Heart. Her family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow the services in Calvary Cemetery. A celebration of her life will follow at Chase’s Riverside Dining at the River Course at Louisville Landing (formerly Massena Country Club).


In lieu of flowers, those wishing may consider memorial contributions to be made in her memory to Massena Meals on Wheels.
