OPELOUSAS ~ Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at a 1:00 p.m. Liturgy of the Word in Melancon Funeral Home of Opelousas for Edward Scott Toussel, age 54, who passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas at a later date. Fr. Greg Simien, will officiate at the services.

Scotty was a lifelong resident of Opelousas. He was a skilled and dedicated Non-Destructive Testing Technician for twenty years. Scotty enjoyed spending time cutting grass and doing yard work, often alongside his beloved sister, Tracy. Scotty was shy, kind and had a generous heart. Scotty leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness that touched everyone who knew him.

Survivors include his mother, Patsy Mistrot Toussel of Opelousas; one brother, Joseph Troy Toussel and his wife, Melissa, of Geismar; two sisters, Debra Briley and her husband, Cliff, and Tracy Guidry, all of Opelousas; eight nieces and nephews, Jared Briley, Lindsey Roy and her husband, Tyler, Tyler Guidry and his wife, Leslie, Trey Guidry and his wife, Makayla, Travis Guidry, Courtney Warner and her husband, Brendan, Mackenzie Toussel, and Jacob Toussel; three great nieces; and four great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Toussel; and his niece Megan Briley.

A rosary will be prayed at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until service time on Wednesday.
