Joseph R Kerr Obituary

Joseph Rocco Kerr went to be with Jesus on July 26, 2024 at the age of 63. Born September 3,1960 in Philadelphia. He was the second born of four sons. His parents moved the family to Franklinville, NJ when he was a teenager. He wrestled, played football and ran track at Delsea High School. Joe was a dedicated son and as an adult would come home on the weekends to help run the family store, Rainbow Collectibles.

It was through mutual friends that Joe met Karen. He moved back to Philadelphia where they started their lives together. They married in 1992 and honeymooned in New England where they liked to travel together. Their love withstood the test of time and together they could overcome any obstacle that stood in their way.

Joe was a devoted and loving father. He was ever present in his children’s lives, attending every ball game, play, concert, award ceremony, and sacrament. He also coached Brandon’s soccer team. He could not sit still, so the weekends were always full of adventures. Trips to the park, beach, or a Phillies game were how Saturdays were spent. Sundays were for family. Joe, Karen, and the kids would spend the day at his parents, where he would help with stuff around the house or yard. He instilled the importance of family and duty in his children. He was a great example of a parent that Stephanie and Katie try to emulate with their own children.

His greatest joy was being Grandpoppy or “Poppy” to Sophia, Gretchen, Dimitri, Nico, Ava, and Nina. He was so proud of all of them and would tell anyone who would listen about their latest accomplishments. He loved spending time with them and attending their shows and recitals.

Joe had lots of hobbies over the years, including sports, motorcycles, kayaking, working on cars, and traveling to the Poconos and Florida every year. He loved classic rock and had a passion for cooking. He attended culinary school and loved cooking for his family and with his grandkids. He was a diehard Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers fan. Loved being at the beach and watching the boats. He was a hard worker and selfless; he had a heart of gold. He was always ready with a joke and loved to make people laugh. He was a loyal friend and enjoyed camping at the Winding River Campground with his friends and son. He is fiercely loved and missed by his wife, kids, and grandkids.

He was the beloved husband of Karenmarie, devoted father of, Stephanie Cassabria (Stephen), Katie and Brandon, cherished grandfather of Sophia, Gretchen, Demetrius, Ava, Nina, and the late Nico, loving brother of Kenneth (Joan), Richard (Cindy), and the late William Montgomery Jr. He was predeceased by his parents Raffaella (Sannutti) and William Montgomery.
