Dorris Price Moran, 98, died Saturday, July 27, 2024 in Lake Jackson, Texas.
He was born October 13, 1925 in Chilton, Texas to Quincy Robert Moran and Myrtle Lee (Mann) Moran in Cilton, Texas.
D.P., as he was called, was a loving husband, father and PaPaw. He is survived by sons, Michael Dean Moran and wife Janie of El Campo, Tx., Milton Dale Moran and wife Billye Faye of Troy, Tx., Billy Don Moran and wife Nell of Angleton, Tx., Douglas Wayne Moran and wife Donna of Angleton, Tx. One daughter, Debbie Drapela and husband Tim Drapela of El Campo, Tx. He has 14 Grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Winona Vasser, and he also leaves many nieces and nephews who have fond memories of him.
He married the love of his life, JoAnn Bailey Moran (‘Puddin’ as he affectionately called her) on May 5, 1948 in Chilton, Tx. They were married four days shy of 76 years, when she passed away May 1, 2024.
D.P. served in the Army during WWII in Japan. He was a farmer, oil field roustabout and truck driver. He loved fishing on Lake Somerville and serving as a volunteer fireman at the Birch Creek Fire Dept. in Somerville.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife JoAnn Moran, sisters Dimple Guderian, Myrle Guderian and Jean Bethurum. He is also preceded in death by brothers-in-law Jake Guderian, William Guderian, Fred Bethurum and Donald T. Bailey, a sister-in-law, Joyce Bailey, and daughters-in-law Kathy Moran and Peggy Moran.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Angleton, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Birch Creek Fire Department in Somerville, Tx., IPH Hospice Care Inc. in Lake Jackson, Tx., or donor’s choice.
