Karen L. Talbott, 84, from Urbandale, IA peacefully went to be with our Lord & Savior on July 26, 2024. She was born April 20, 1940, in Des Moines, IA to I.E. and Margaret (Gilbert) Blackburn.

Karen was united in marriage to James Talbott on January 27, 1958. James & Karen celebrated 63 years together.

She spent the majority of her life in the Des Moines area, where she worked as a bill collector, she retired at the age of 74 from Wells Fargo.

Karen was a member of New Hope Assembly of God for 33 years. During this time, she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and also volunteered to clean. Karen LOVED the Lord with all her heart! She never failed to tell anyone about Him and how He had healed her, multiple times throughout her life, and carried her through heartaches, and how the Lord never failed her!

Karen always made friends wherever she went! She was loving, kind & always had an encouraging word to share along with a smile!

In her younger days, with her free time she enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning and cooking, and Oh what a great cook!

Karen adored her family and spending time with all of them as often as possible. Karen also had many close friends.

One of her main priorities was reading her Bible, talking to Jesus first thing each day, praying with and for others.

Karen is survived by daughters, Pamala (Steve) Wilson, Sherry (Reggie) Bell and Julie Worden; grandchildren, Ben (Stephanie) Grabill, Jim (Dustin) Grabill, Betsy (Mike) Richards, Stephanie (Angel) Gibson, Aleesia Bell, Stephanie (Mike) Raitt, Tyler Wilson and Caitlin (Matt) Brault; siblings, Mary (Dennis) Juran, John (Michelle) Latcham; 11 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and a host of other friends and relatives.

Karen is preceded in death by her loving husband, James Sr.; her parents; children, James Jr. and Kathy Jo; along with 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Visitation will be 5-7 PM Monday, July 29, 2024, at New Hope Assembly of God, Urbandale. Celebration of life will be held 11 AM Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the church, with burial at 2 PM in Maxwell Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family in memory of Karen to be determined at a later date.
