Ethel “Boo” David, age 91, of Glynn, LA, passed away on July 26, 2024, from complications of COVID-19 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. Ethel was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, caregiver, farmer, friend, and owner of Bonaventure’s Grocery in Glynn, LA. She was often seen working in her flower and vegetable gardens, except during pecan season when she picked pecans by hand. She loved growing things, her home, family, and friends. Ethel is survived by her daughter, Jennifer David Melancon; grandson, Marc Joseph Melancon (Kiva); and great-grandchildren, Bruce Value Melancon and Felicia Nicole Melancon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Floyd David; parents, Value and Gertrude “Bead” Bonaventure; and son-in-law, Dennis Melancon. A visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Hall in Lakeland on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 9 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial in the church at 11 a.m. The entombment will follow in False River Memorial Park Mausoleum.
