Douglas Lee Stephan, 79, of Saint Paris passed away peacefully on July 26, 2024 in his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Doug was born on July 10, 1945, in Piqua, Ohio to Betty (Mothmiller) and Harold Stephan.

He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Cheryl Phares, on October 19, 1963. He graduated from Graham High School in 1963. He is a lifelong member of St. Johns Lutheran in Piqua, Ohio. He retired after 40 years from Hobart Brothers where he worked as a machinist. Following retirement, he worked at RoadDog gas station for many years in Saint Paris, Ohio.

His hobbies included collecting toy tractors and trucks, camping, square dancing, and tractor pulls. He enjoyed traveling out west to attend toy tractor shows and going to county and state fairs every summer. He loved to square dance in his free time with his wife and belonged to the Ohio Square Dance Campers in the 1970s and 80s. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Browns fan. He and his wife enjoyed serving food at auctions and flea markets with Jackson Grange.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 60 years; daughter, Susan Annette Clingenpeel; son Rob (Carla) Stephan; grandchildren, Jordan Everett, Nichole (Steven) Klingler, Cassidy Stephan (Fiancé Luke Ridenour); and sister Jane (Vic) Peddicord.

Doug is preceded in death by his parents; and his son-in-law, Harvey Leroy Clingenpeel.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday July 30, 2024, in ATKINS, SHIVELY & VERNON Funeral Home, St. Paris, Ohio.

Funeral service will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Wednesday July 31, 2024 in the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Donnellsville, Ohio.
