Thelma Denton Sykes, 93, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Brookshire Nursing Home in Hillsborough. She was born on October 17, 1930 to the late Bernice Brewer Denton and Aylmere Hedgepeth Denton. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sykes is predeceased by her husband, John Peyton Sykes, who passed away April 21, 1983.

Mrs. Sykes was a graduate of Mills High School and Louisburg College with a degree in Business.

Mrs. Sykes is survived by her daughter, Diane Sykes Beddingfield and husband Cal of Durham.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 4th at Yates Baptist Church in Durham.
