Ernest Walters, Jr, 79, of Hattiesburg passed away on July 26, 2024 at Asbury Hospice House. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Hattiesburg Community Church from 9:30 A.M. until service time at 11:30 A.M. followed by burial in Rawls Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Ernest was a member of Hattiesburg Community Church. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sargent, and then from the Mississippi Department of Transportation after twenty years. He enjoyed farming, watching westerns, and listening to gospel and bluegrass music, but loved his family the most.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Deree Walters; his parents-in-law, Eugene and Venetia Polk; and four brothers-in-law, William Giles, Jimmy Polk, and Floyd Polk, and Roger Polk.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Walters of Hattiesburg; Daughter, Sheri Walters Tilghman (Donnie) of Hendersonville, TN; two grandchildren, Tori Salinas (Andrew) of Hendersonville, TN and Logan Tilghman of Hendersonville, TN; four great grandchildren, Naveyah, Natalia, Adalynne, and Adrianna; his sister, Nola Faye Giles of Arkansas; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Toler; one brother-in-law, Kelly Polk; and several nieces and nephews.
