Rita Esther Foote (nee Heffernan) was called home by our Heavenly Father on July 26, 2024, after a long period of declining health. Rita was born on November 11, 1921 in Brasher Falls, NY to Richard and Clara Heffernan. Rita loved music and to dance and helping her attorney father with his office work. She later graduated from secretarial school and put her skills to use at The Pentagon during WWII. She married George A Foote, Sr in June 1947. Rita and George were some of the first residents of the new Ridgewood Lawns and Rita lived there for more than 60 years. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, Ridgewood where she serve as President of SAM, a Board Member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and the Eucharistic Adoration; a Girl Scout leader for Mt Carmel School; Board member for Church Women United and HILT; and enjoyed the Ridgewood Library Book Club and the NW Senior Center. She was known for her excellent pies, love of Bingo and jewelry, and sense of humor.
Rita is predeceased by her parents; her brothers Robert, Walter, and Gerald and her sister Mary; and her husband George. She is survived by her daughter Dr MaryAnn Foote, California; and her son George A Foote, Jr, New Jersey and numerous nieces and nephews and their children.
Arrangements are being handled by Feeney Funeral Home, Ridgewood. Visitation is Monday July 29, 2024 from 4 pm to 6 pm with funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mt Carmel, Ridgewood on Tuesday July 30, 2024 at 10 am. Interment will be with her husband at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
