Barbara Faye Conley, 89, of Lackey, Kentucky passed away on August 21, 2018. Barbara was born to the late Monte and Manda Conley on December 24, 1928, in Lackey, Kentucky. She graduated from Hindman High School in 1946, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky in 1949 and later earned a Master of Science degree from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida in 1971. Barbara began her teaching career in Garrett, Kentucky and then relocated to accept teaching positions in Ohio, Nebraska and New Mexico. She then took a break from her teaching career to work as a stewardess for TWA Airlines. Later, Barbara enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1955, serving in San Antonio, Texas; Chicago, Illinois; and Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She then returned to her love of teaching in Kissimmee, Florida and then in Orlando, Florida, where she retired in 1984. Barbara is survived by one sister (Jean Conley Myers) and is survived by seven nieces (Barbara Griffin of Bonaire, Georgia; Ermal Elizabeth "Beth" McLaughlin of Bonaire, Georgia; Amanda Myers of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; Jennifer Franklin, of Kathleen, Georgia; Jean Chapman of Phoenix, Arizona; Kimberly Tucker of Frankfort, Kentucky; and Rebecca Hollander of Williamsburg, Ohio) and four nephews (John Gregory Conley of Felicity, Ohio; Michael Conley of Bonaire, Georgia; James Barry Conley of Gordon, Alabama; and David Randall Myers of West Lafayette, Indiana). She is also survived by 18 great nieces and nephews, as well as 11 great-great nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her father and mother; four brothers (Earnway Conley; James Conley; Paul Conley; and John Conley); one sister (Ermal Conley McDonald); two nephews (Paul Monte Conley and Christopher Conley); and one niece (Carolyn Conley). Barbara was of the Southern Baptist faith and a devout follower of Jesus Christ. She loved the mountains, her family and her sovereign God. Funeral Services for Barbara Faye Conley will be held at the Hindman Funeral Services Chapel, Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11:00AM with Chester Varney officiating. Burial will follow at the Triplett-Conley Cemetery in Mousie, KY. A viewing will be held at the Chapel on Saturday beginning at 10:00AM.
