Donald Merton Spindler, Plover, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Edenbrook Wisconsin Rapids under the care of Heartland Hospice.
Don was born August 28, 1945 to Arthur and Mollie (Price) Spindler in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. He attended Stevens Point schools and graduated in 1963 from P.J. Jacobs High School.
Early in his career, Don worked building silos and as an auto mechanic at the Texaco Station in Stevens Point. He was a custodian at Stevens Point Area Senior High School for more than 35 years, retiring in 2007.
Don enjoyed fishing, playing golf on his weekly league, playing cribbage and board games with his family, Friday nights around the fire pit, watching a good thunderstorm roll in, and having a “pipe and a pint” while enjoying the evening sunset.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mollie Spindler, his brothers, Richard Spindler and David Spindler; his nephew, Scott Spindler; and special friend, Shirley Suchon.
Don is survived by his sons Robin (Paula) Spindler, Plover, and Coby Spindler (Megan Meyer), Stevens Point; daughter, Cindy Steele Urban (Paul Rueckheim), Cashton; grandson, Justin Spindler, Westminster, Colorado; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis (Carol) Spindler, Custer; nephew, nieces, and friends.
A private gathering to celebrate Don’s life will be held at a later date.
