Donald J. Young Sr., 88, formerly of Exeter Township, passed away July 20, 2024, at Pottstown Hospital.

His beautiful wife of 65 wonderful years, Beverly J. (Lynn) Young, passed away on December 20, 2022.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Edwin Charles and Lucy Marie (Pollito) Young.

He was a graduate of Governor Mifflin High School, where he met his future wife Beverly in chemistry class.

Donald served our nation proudly and valiantly in the US Navy. He spent the rest of his career working as a Field Engineer has last job was at JEOL Ltd. Manufacturing Company.

A true fighter with a giant spirit to match, Donald was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Donald had the gift of joking with one to make them feel like old friends, even if they had just met. Donald had the rare ability to ‘stir the pot’ without going too far, and the charm to let you know that it was all in good humor. His friendly personality, caring nature, love and dedication to his family will be greatly missed. Donald’s greatest gift to his family was his true, lifelong love he shared with his wife Beverly.

Donald was a dedicated fan of all Philadelphia sports and found joy in following Perkiomen Valley High School sports, where his son coaches football.

Donald is survived by four sons: Donald J. Young Jr., husband of Kathleen Young (North Wales), Michael J. Young, fiancé of Nancy Rieti (Philadelphia), Joel J. Young, husband of Lisa Young (Mohrsville), and Matthew J. Young, husband of Terri Young (Schwenksville); eight grandchildren: Lauren, Brandon, husband of Jenna, Kylie, fiancé of Michael, Shelby, Mattie, Grace, Abigail, and Morgan; three step-grandchildren: Randy, husband of Daniella, Katie, and Alex, husband of Tanya; three great-grandchildren:, Nathan, Henry, and Annalee; and five step-great-grandchildren: Connor, Caden, Londyn, Noah, and Fey Elise.

He is also survived by his sister Jean Ann (Young) Bare, his sister Jessica (Young) Fuller, wife of Serafin Fuller, and his sister-in-law Audrey (Lynn) Focht.

Donald was predeceased by his sister Margaret (Young) Wenger, wife of David Wenger, and his daughter-in-law, Jodi Young.

Services will be Friday, July 26, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Friends may call Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
